It’s one of those problems no one talks about. Even though over half of us will suffer from it as we grow older. In addition to the physical discomfort, life threatening and altering side effects, those affected must endure the emotional burdens of shame and embarrassment. For caregivers it adds to the psychological and physical burdens of caregiving, and is one of the single greatest risk factors for nursing home placement, hospitalization, and death.
